Preparing for a changing climate – New climate resilience guidance for West Oxfordshire communities

30th July 2026

The District Council has recently produced two new practical guides to help residents and communities prepare for more frequent extreme weather, as rising greenhouse gas emissions drive climate change and global warming.

The first, Preparing for a Changing Climate, covers a range of practical actions people can take to improve resilience to issues such as flooding, heavy rainfall, hotter summers, drought and pressure on local nature and infrastructure.

The second, Keeping Cool During Hotter Weather, provides more specific advice on preparing homes for heatwaves, avoiding overheating, supporting people who may be particularly vulnerable and recognising heat-related illness.

The guides are currently available electronically attached and linked below:

  • Keeping Cool During Hotter Weather: [link]
