Response to the West Oxfordshire Local Plan 2041

North Leigh Parish Council responded to the West Oxfordshire Local Plan 2041 (WOLP 2041) submitting a comment on 29th November 2023.

Extract: “North Leigh has been afflicted with a huge increase in housing supply in the last 6 years, at the last submission this was 297 new houses in a village of 700 houses ie a 42% increase which is excessive….  The strong concern of residents of North Leigh Parish is that…this will be ignored going forward and … in the new plan from 2023–2041, we will AGAIN be allocated our “fair share” of housing with no regard to the additional capacity that we have already just absorbed.  We strongly oppose this scenario and we believe that this unjustified past excess approval of housing here should now be rectified.   North Leigh must get a complete “exemption” from further planning in the Land Plan with NO FURTHER SITES BEING ALLOCATED for North Leigh Parish…until such time as North Leigh’s contribution has been brought back into line…”

Timing and Process for Commenting on the WOLP 2041

In Autumn 2023, WODC invited Parish Councils to make general comments on 8 different scenarios for the “Future Pattern of Development” under the WOLP 2041 which we have now done.  The Parish Council will be able to make specific comments on the “long list” of individual sites put forward in early Spring 2024 so please continue to send us your comments for inclusion into our response.  Residents will be able to comment directly on the “short list” of sites in late Spring 2024.
